I have been researching the Brindley line of my family now for about a year. I have learned some very interesting facts. Richard Brindley and his sons, Frazier, George, Stephen and Robert were all born in Northern Ireland. They came to America, (Probably landing in Virginia and then taking the Cumberland Gap route through the mountains)and traveled South-West steadily. Frazier Frazier signed the marriage bond for his brother George to Martha Barclay in the late 1700's in efferson County Tennessee. We know Frazier married Phoebe Riggs and traveled on to Alabama. In the census records for Putnam County Tennessee, 1850-there is an Elijah Brindles married to a Nancy and they have one daughter. In the 1860 Putnam County Tennessee census, there was a Stephen Brindles married to a Mary, an Elijah Brindles still married to a Nancy and an Asa Brindles married to a Mary. These men were all within 5 years of age of each other, so they must have been cousins or brothers. I believe they were brothers, Sons of the first Stephen Brindley to come to America. The Stephen Brindles on the 1860 census was the father of Elijah Brindley who married Mary Smith. These were my great grand parents, This Elijah was born in 1864. There is a record somewhere of a Brindley-DeRossett marriage. This is possibly the marriage of the first Stephen Brindley in America. If you are searching for family members in this line be careful you don't miss any because of the spelling. On George's marriage bond both his and Frazer's last name was spelled Brintle. On some of the census records it's spelled Brindle, Brindles, Brinlee, Brinley and some other variations. I live in Tennessee and would be happy to share the information I have. I would also ike to know if anyone else has information I could use to trace this family.
