Edward Brindley,(1919-1978?) Stoke

I have kept hitting dead ends with the search for information about my grandfather Edward Brindley, but hopefully someone out there can help.
The only information I have is that he was born in 1919, possibly in the Stoke area in England, that he was raised in a Barnardos childrens home and that he had a brother called Jack (daughter Marilyn?).
He met my grandmother (Charlotte Temel from Graz, Austria) during the war and they settled in London and had three children, Brian, Eddie and my mother Betty (b.1949) who was the youngest. Charlotte died young in the late 1950's and my mother and her brothers were also sadly entered into childrens homes as my grandfather could not cope. He died in London in 1978.
My mother moved to Northern Ireland with my father after they were married and she has lived here ever since.
I realise this is very scant information to go on, but my mother would be extremely grateful for any information about her family and any relatives who may be around today.
Many thanks in advance.

Kind Regards
