I have not started doing a genealogical search on this name yet, but I wondered if there is a connection between your Brindley and James Brindley, the millwright and canal engineer of Derbyshire. My husband's middle name was Brindley and it was said to have been passed down from that family, specifically from James Brindley's brother, whose first name I don't know. James Brindley, 1716-1772.
