Thank you for your reply Gordon.
I have suspected for some time that John the son of William
and Ann could possibly be my 2x greatgrandfather. The
part that doesn't fit is that their John was born 16th March, 1792. On gg-grandfather's enlistment papers, dated
20 July 1815, his age is shown as 23 Years --"-- Months. On his discharge papers dated 14 April 1841, his age is shown as 48 8/12 years.
Ggg-grandfather was an iron monger so if I could find William's occupation was the same then that would pretty much confirm they are the same family.
