Hello Vicki,
I'm not sure about 1883, but it is possible you mean Robert Brindley, born 1814 in Marple, died 1890 at Bosley Cheshire, son of Francis and Susannah, nee Allsop(p). Robert married Elizabeth Percival and they had one child Elizabeth who married Daniel Buxton. Elizabeth and Daniel were the grand-parents of my late husband, Bruce Percival Warburton. Bruce's mother was Jessie Brindley Warburton nee Buxton, born 1885, died 1980. Francis was an exceedingly rich corn merchant and Robert had a corn mill at Bosley and farmed at Kill Hill Farm, Bosley. The family bible has the family back to Chapman Brindley of Hollinsclough who married Felice Chapman at Alstonfield, Staffs, in 175l. I understand from my husband's family that Robert Brindley owned Harrington House in Bosley. There is a story that he gambled away much of his money - luckily Elizabeth's family left them a great deal more.
Regards, Daphne.
