Still looking for info but I have just found James Brindley's death in Sydney NSW Australia 25 August 1847, Chruch of England, parish of St Laurence's Sydney and at the time he lived in the Benevolent Asylum that backed onto Devonshire Street Cemetery and was opposite Christ Church, St Laurence's. This is backed up by the fact James Brindley left Tasmania 26 Feb 1846 on the Saphire, his wife Mary married James Robert in 1848 in Tasmania and the death records say James was a soldier. James had been a private in the 83rd Regiment of Foot plus 3rd Company NSW Royal Veterans based in Tasmania.
This cemetery is now Syney Central Train Station and he doesn't appear to be on the list of known graves that were relocated. There were believed to be over 30,000 graves in it and only just over 10,000 were identified at the time they were exumed and relocated. It is believed that not all were exumed and relocated.
