My ancestor was Thomas Brindley b 1769? died New York America 29/7/1836. He married Susannah Haycock in 1797 in Kings Lynn Nfk and then on her death Charlotte Williams in 1813 in Kent. He had shipbuilding yards with his brother Joseph in Kings Lynn and then in Frindsbury Kent. Bankrupt in 1826 went to Philadelphia America took out oath of allegiance 1834. he had a son Edward in America who was a preacher. I cannot find where he was born in England and I am beginning to wonder if he was born in America. His shipbuilding yard built the"Shannon" which sunk the "Chesapeake" in the American War of Independance
