I too am searching for more info on some Brindleys from Ontario. The ones I am looking for are John and Mary (Campbell) Brindley of Colbourn, Huron County, Ontario. The left there in 1881 and came south to Pickford, Chippewa, Michigan and were one of the Pioneer families of Pickford.
I do believe they came down with other Brindleys, not sure how many immigrated. John and Mary had nine girls and three boys: Mary Christine 1862-1903 m. Thos Ames 1859-1920; Dorthea Ann Jane 1865-1888 m. Wm Sutton or Sulton ?.
Levina Ellice 1866–1939 m. Wm Cryderman 1856-1929.
Margaret Ellen 1869–1959 m. Jasper Brindley. He is a mystery, I can't find this person anywhere or on any census and wonder if he was a made up name to protect the 31 - 33 yr old Miss Margaret Brindley who bore a daughter Ruth Brindley either in 1900 or 1902. It is odd that Ruth's mother and father both had the last name of Brindley but maybe they were cousins or something. Margaret married Mary's widower prior to the 1910 census and then she disappeared in 1920 after Thomas Ames died. I can't find Margaret on the 1900 census either, furthering the mystery of herself and Jasper and Ruth's parentage.
Louisa Jenett 1872–1925 m. Samuel Parker ?.
Sarah Elizabeth 1873–1957 never married.
Alice Victoria 1875–1958 m. John Steele 1862 - ?.
John Jacob Jr 1877 – 1973 m. Carrie Ball and moved to Oregon.
Eliza Amelea 1878–1944 m. John Sourby and moved to Illinois.
Caraline 1884–1887 died very young;
William James 1887–1973 m. Nellie Elendor Russell 1908-1991. Not sure about the death year being 1973 but other folks on ancestry.com are using that date and I believe it's a mistake being perpetuated. I find no record of him after 1942 when he too is living in Illinois near his sister, he has a wife named Rebecca. He is my grandfather who disappeared from my mother's life after taking her from my grandmother Nellie as a toddler and turning her over to his sister Margaret and her daughter Ruth to raise abt 1930, she stayed with them until she was abt 13.
George Francis Sylvester "Frank S." 1889–1928 m. Mae Lordson.
I know nothing about the family in Ontario, how many came down to Michigan to homestead in Chippewa County, I do find other Campbells in the county, I'm thinking others in Mary's family came down as well. I know they arrived on the Northern Bell, a ferry from Canada. My biggest mysteries are what his their heritage, when did John Brindley Sr come from Germany to Canada? Who is Jasper Brindley and does he really exist? What happened to Margaret in 1900 and 1920? Most of all, where did William Brindley run off to?
