I forgot to mention that while checking census records I have seen the name spelled Brindles (Asa of Smith Co., Tn.) Brinlee (Stephen in Putnam Co., Tn. after the county boundaries changed) and Brindley (Elijah and earlier Brindleys that came from VA. via NC. and kept moving west and south). There is a Brindley Hollow Road on highway 70 from Cookeville to Nashville. At the end of the road is the Brindley Cemetery. Some of the stones there are so old, they're not readable anymore. Also, Red Boiling Springs is in Macon Co., which is right next to both Putnam and Smith Counties. Buffalo Valley was originally in Smith County, Tn. until the creation of Putnam county Tn. shortly after 1850.
