This article from a Des Moines paper, Police Capt. Joseph B. Brindley, 55 Saturday applied for retirement effective Sept. 30. He will receive a monthly salary of $261, based upon half his average salary of the past five years.
Brindley was appointed to the force Sept. 16, 1936. He was promoted to sergeant in 1947, to lieutenant in 1950 and captain in 1957.
In December of 1958 he was given command of the police identification unit where he had served for several years as an identification technician. Brindley has been on sick leave recently because of a leg injury.
Also found in a Des Moines paper: Services for Mrs. Grace G. Brindley, 89 ( no date of death is listed).....Mrs. Brindley was the mother of Joe Brindley, retired Des Moines police captain and now a resort owner at Walker, Minn.
I'm not sure what relation I have to these Brindley's as I found these articles in an aunts photo albums after her death. I am related to some Brindleys tho... Hope this helps
