I saw your message (from 2009) re Joseph Brinklow and wondered if that is the same Joe who was my Great Grandad.(His mother's name was Sara(h).(Our family seems to think that Sara(h) had 5 children). Joe married a Barbara Gray (father James Gray & mother Barbara Florence - family intrigue about the name Florence-we were told that Barbara Florence's father had been found on the streets of Florence and taken back to Aberdeenshire by some landed gentry and given the surname of Florence - but nothing to prove that at all). One of Joe's and Barbara's children was my Grandad, William James Brinklow who was born in Knebworth (I think) on 1st September, 1899. They came to live in Rannes Street, Insch, Aberdeenshire when my Grandfather was about 6 months old.(Gt.Grandad Joe worked for the Post Office in Insch). My Grandad was the second child of 7 children. Our family also puzzled about the connection between Aberdeenshire and England.(Maybe Barbara found a job 'In Service' down in England.) My Grandmother from my Mother's side had done that in the early 1900s.(leaving Banchory, Kincardineshire (now Aberdeenshire)to get a job 'In service' in Yorkshire before meeting my Grandad, William Brinklow) back in Aberdeenshire and getting married. Maybe Barbara, like my Granny, wanted to spread her wings a bit.If you think this is the same side of the Family, would you like to get in touch?
