Thank you for your extensive reply to my query. I can assure you that I look at many possible spellings for the McKENNEY surname - being one myself I am well aware that almost no one spells it correctly even today!! So far I have a list of nearly 50 possible spellings found in old documents: such as Mackquinny, Macceney or Machine. I have found the name spelled several ways in the same family Bible when the writer was listing people in the same family!

My primary interest is in the sister of Elizabeth (Doup/Toop) BRINLEY - namely Mary (Doup/Toop)(McKinney) BLANKENBAKER. So I was very interested in your information that she died 25 Aug 1846. Did she die in Jefferson County, Kentucky?

Do you by any chance have the citation for her death date and place? I was looking for a will or an estate settlement for her and have not been successful. In the 1840 census she lived alone except for a number of slaves. So if she had slaves, she must have had property to be settled.

Thank you again - and I hope you can answer my questions about Mary - sister of Elizabeth (Doup) BRINLEY.

Jody McKenney Thomson
