Elizabeth Ann (Betsy) McKinney, d/o Daniel McKinney and Margaret McClure, is my ancestor. According to family papers, she was born 21 Feb. 1813 in Crab Orchard, Ky and married S. Hiram Kar(o)l Brinlee (TX spelling) 14 Sept. 1832 in Lafayette Co. AR. Her sister, Amy McKinney b. 22 Feb. 1806 married Hiram's older brother, George Brinlee.

George and Hiram, supposedly sons of John and according to a family story, unhappy with a step mother, left KY with the McKinney family arriving a few miles from what is now Texarkana in 1824.

I would assume that since Alexander was not a son of Daniel or Collin McKinney, he was a son of one of their brothers and a 1st cousin of Amy and Betsy.
