Regarding Doups Family, (Dups, Toops) I am related to this family from PA>KY> Elizabeth, Harrison Co., Ind.
In regard to the Doups in Jefferson Co., KY Toops family researchers that I have read said that the George and Daniel Doups were of a completely different family. One researcher said they "...were more probably members of the Doub or Daub family also originally of Pennsylvania, but a distinct and different family."(Cite:"Dubbs,Dubs, Dups and Toops Families:Descendants of Hans Jacob Dups" Compiled by Minnie Dubbs Millbrook with Mary Alma Kay, p. 15-16, on view at the New Albany-Floyd Co. Indiana Library.)
I have some information that I have gleaned from sources in Jefferson, Bullitt Co., Ky and also New Albany-Floyd Co. and Corydon, Harrison Co. Library.
If you have any questions that I could help you with please contact me. Maybe some of my research findings will give you a lead to something that you are looking for.
I am interested in John A. Toops(b. ca. 1819) son of Henry Toops (b. ca. 1790 and Elizabeth Tabler). This Henry Toops was the son of a Henry Toops( b.1754 in Lebanon Co. Pa.)Wife Catherine _____? They came to Jefferson Co., Ky before 1799. A son John Toops was born to Henry(b.1754) in Ky in 1800. This John died in Clark Co. Missouri on August 14, 1877.
I am trying to find out information on my John A. Toops. Especially where and when he died. He married Ruth McCartney(b. KY ca. 1820)in Harrison Co., Ind. on April 7, 1842.
She died at the home of her daughter Martha Lee Toops Shade on July 11, 1902 in the Portland area of Louisville, KY (Cite: The Corydon Democrat, newpsper, July 23, 1902. She is buried in Union Chapel Cemetery in Posey Township, Harrison Co., near Elizabeth, Ind. Grave is not marked so I don't know if John A. Toops was buried there with her or not. I have not been able to find a death record or any clue as to his death date or where they were living at that time. I would welcome hearing from anyone who may have a family record in a Bible or letter that might lend a clue to this.
