My great grandfather was Jesse Lawrence from Lawrence County, Arkansas and when his first wife passed away he married Mrs. Margaret Brinsfield (Brimsfield) on June 17, 1877. I assume since her name was listed in the Arkansas records as Mrs, that she had been married before. He married Catherine in 1889, so I assume that she had passed away before that.

The 1880 census indicates that Margaret was born in Arkansas and her parents were born in Georgia.

On the 1870 census, Jesse and his then wife Elizabeth live next farm over to a Harden D. Brinsfield and his wife Mary. Harden was born in Georgia and I just keep tossing around in my mind that perhaps Margaret is his brother's widow.

Does any of this ring a bell?
