Do Brinsfield's of Maryland have Indian blood

Dear Betty Brinsfield Bibb,
I am interested in tracing any indian ancestry in the Brinsfield line. I have always had a haunting affinity to the eastern Indians. My mother once told me I had Indian blood but nothing more was said. As her ancestors came to America in the Early 1600's I don't know if she was refering to her family or my fathers family or both.
I am a Brinsfield who's ancestors were born and raised on the eastern shore of Maryland. I know from family stories that my Great grandfather Peter Brinsfield, born about 1850, married to Matilda came from the lower eastern shore and was a sailor (a captian so it was said). He named sons George, Caleb Wright(died in infancy) and daughters Margaret, millie, minnie, edna.

I realize how much time can be spent researching genealogy and would appreciate any info you may have on the Brinsfield's pre 1850.
Thank you.
Will Brinsfield
