looking for Brinston ancestors

I see that this forum has been very inactive. Hopefully someone will be able to help me.

My mother was named Claire Madalyne BRINSTON. She was the only child of Harold William BRINSTON and Mabel Grayce DUNHAM. My mother was born in Winnipeg, MB, and both her parents were born in Ontario... Harold was born in Brinston's Corners as was his father, Albert BRINSTON.

Albert married Ella Elizabeth MERKLEY. Besides my grandfather, there were 3 other children. Lulu, born 1884; Mabel born 1886 and died in infancy; my grandfather Harold born in 1887; and Madalynn Olive born in 1900.

Albert BRINSTON, born Oct 19 1857 was possibly adopted. He is listed as Albert SHAVER in the 1861 census, but listed as a son in a later census. His father? was Thomas BRINSTON, and his mother Catharine BARTON, both from Ireland.

I believe Thomas's parents were John BRINSTON and Jane.

Do these names ring any bells?

Kathy Wood
