Nicholas, John, Matt, and Frank Britten were born in Germany. They came over one at a time and made money to send for the next to come over. They had another brother who stayed in Germany with the parents. Matt bought some land in Groom Texas and his son J.M. moved there, but Matt stayed in Iowa. I have a file with a copy of an interview with J.M. Britten that was in a book called Carson County (Texas), A Time Of Purpose. I can send it to you if you are interested. I don't have much info on Matt's family, other than what is in the interview. I do have a photo of Matt & Maudy Britten on my photoalbum.
