Brockett/Brackett CT 1640s

There is a Christopher Brackett who was in Bennington Vermont in 1787. The name is spelled Brackit in some histories of Vermont. Christopher married an Elizabeth Tuttle. The Tuttle's go back to New Haven CT as does the Brockett families. Christopher is claimed by the Brackett genealogists and today I found he is claimed by the Brockett's also. Has anyone seen these early records and are they sure the name was Brockett not Brackett. The Brackett's list Christopher as the son of John and Damaris (Deane) Brackett. The Brockett'd list him as the son of John and Jemima (Tuttle) Brockett. Help.
