John Brockett, husband of Joan Lacon, was John Brockett of Caswell (bap 1583, will proved 1658/9). Arnold Beasley mentioned him in a posting to this forum on September 6. John Brockett of Caswell and his father, the third Sir John Brockett (c 1561-1613), both owned land in Virginia. It is possible that John Brockett of Caswell's son, another John!, was in England in 1642/3. That is what the court case referred to by Arnold suggests. Raymond Madsen, on the other hand, thinks he was the John who sailed to the New World on the good ship Hector in 1637. Maybe we will discover more documents one day which will shed more light on the puzzle!
