I am working on the lineage of Robert Brockett, from Lanark Shire, Scotland, came to America in 1784 with his wife, Anabella Burnet and their young son, Walter. Robert was a brickmaker and builder in Alexandria, Virginia. He built many historic buildings in Alexandria, including the parsonage for the Old Presbyterian Church. In Alexandria, Robert and Anabella had another son, Robert Brockett, Jr.
Walter Brockett married in Alexandria and died within a year of his marriage. He had children, but he often is overlooked in books that discuss the Brockett family. The books often state that Robert Brockett, Jr., is the oldest son of Robert and Anabella.
Robert Brockett, Jr., followed in his father's footsteps and was a brickmaker and builder in Alexandria, Virginia. Robert Brockett, Jr., married Elizabeth Longdon (Landgon) in Alexandria, Virginia and they had several children.
I descend from Robert Brockett, Jr. I have visited the genealogy department of the Library of Virginia in Alexandria, and have a lot of information.
We are building a Web Site, www.BrockettFamily.com.
