Ron: If you will go to the Brockett Archive and do a search of "John of New Haven" you will find Dr Brockett's several options regarding the possible parentage of New Haven John. Sufficient reasons are given to show that John of Caswell was not his father. Edward and Ann of Dunton are probably the parents and would have inhabited the same social class in which we find New Haven John.
