Sorry Richard but I tend to disagree with you. I've read and reread the possible parents of John of New Haven. I find that the timeline linking him to John of Caswell and Mary Blackwell is much more plausible than that of Edward and Ann of Dunton. I don't believe you can make a judgement based solely on social status. John Brockett accomplished much in New Haven and Wallingford in his lifetime. Would a man of lower social status be given these opportunities? Until there is a better argument for a different ancestor, and I don't think there will be, I'll stick with the popular opinion. There are those who believe John of New Haven didn't lay out the nine squares of New Haven. They make an argument based on no diffinitive proof. I require diffinitive proof to change my mind. For 350 years it was belived John Brockett layed out the nine squares. It'll take a little more than conjecture to change my mind. Alas , we can't go back and ask them can we? I guess this is what makes genealogy interesting.
