I am not researching these people, just entering information from one of my books, "Year Book, Pasquotank Historical Society, Volume 4" compiled and edited by Edna M. Shannonhouse:
"John Sawyer Burgess was born 1808, died 1873. His first wife Lydia Brockett, who died 1857." (7 children are listed)
This is from the Burgess Family Bible:

Roy Richard Brockett was born Oct. 9, 1908
Nina J. Brockett was born May 30, 1909
Pauline Brockett was born July 28, 1911
Pauline Brockett died April 4, 1912
Sudie Burgess Brockett died Oct. 22, 1929
Lena Juanita Burgess Brockett died Sept. 16, 1961
Sudie E. Burgess and Claude L. Brockett were married Oct. 25, 1906.
