Hi Ron, I am the great grandson of Walter Dudley Brockett of North Haven, New Haven, Brockett's Point etc. He and his wife, Minnie Bell Kay, had my grandmother, Minnie Bell Kay Brockett. Minnie (Min-Min) with her husband, Eric Slayton, had my mother, Margaret Brockett Slayton. She married Robert Ingersoll Fleming and they had my brother Randolph Ingersoll Fleming, me, and my sister, Kay Davenport Fleming.
I am as certain as can be that the definitive research on John Brockett's lineage has now been done by Ray Madsen. He went to Herts and Oxford and researched the heck out of this pig till it squealed, and the result is as follows (this is the Cliff notes mind you).
Sir John B. (knighted by Q.E.) had a brother, Nicholas. Nicholas married Margaret Hoo. They had a son, John, who was John Brockett of Mackery End. He married Mary Snagg. Thier oldest child (of three) was another John who married Joan Lacon. They had two children, Lacon and John. It was this John who was christened in Wheathamstead, 29 July 1612, attended Cambridge, married Mary Blackwell and sailed off to Boston and then helped found New Haven.
Ray has it all on his web site. I have corresponded enough with him, and I'm sure he's got it right.
Nice to hear of a new cousin. Hope to hear from you soon.
