Mr Sevier: that's a pretty historic name!
Your ancestor was Elisha Hardin Brockett, b 13 Nov 1827 in TN; d 26 Apr 1864. He m Mary Elizabeth Balleau Balleu?) 23 Mar 1853, she b 19 Jan 1832; d 4 Jul 1904.
They had four children: Cora Ann, 1856-1891; Ferdinand Petway; Erasmus Lee; James Seaborn, 1854-55.
Elisha Hardin Brockett was son of Elisha Brockett (1786-1864) and Celia Young (1791-1856). Elisha and Celia had 12 children.
Elisha Brockett, b in SC, was s/o William (no middle initial) Brockett and Martha (Patsey) Ives. William is buried in a small cemetery north of Carthage. The grave stone is a fake. No one knows for certain where the grave is.
William was b 1748 in Craven Co, NC (not in Connecticut as some would have you believe). His father is proved as Benjamin Brockett, b about 1725, prob in Pasquotank Co, NC.
For the ancestry of Benjamin, go to the Broket Archive at
To go back farther than Norfolk Co, go to the "Elsewhere - Somerset chapter of the Archive. These contain the best researched and most accurate info that we have. Let me know if I can be of further help.
