Hi Denise
I can't help you much. Many of the earliest
Brockwells to colonize America came to the vicinity of Prince George County Virginia.
This is just east of the city of Petersburg,
about 30 miles so. of Richmond. Many of the courthouse records for this county have been destroyed by fires. The earliest Brockwell I have a record of was John who married Mary Carter Jan. 24 1760 in Virginia. Another John (presumably) married the widow Mary Bustin Nov. 16, 1687 in Nansemond Co. Va. A Thomas Brockwell married Jemimah Williams Dec. 12 1785 in Prince George Co. Va. The 1787 Virginia Census lists the following in Prince George co. ARCHIBALD, CARTER, JOSEPH, THOMAS

Like I said, probably not much use to someone in the UK , but still, we've got to start somewhere !
I requested a BROCKWELL surname site, I hope I had some part in it's creation.
Good Hunting Cousins !!
