Hi Graham, sorry,I don't know about Stanley Brogden, but my dad, Chris, was born in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire in 1941.
His father, William, was also born there in 1912, But unfortunately passed away in 1997.
Brogden seems to be a common surname in the Middlesbrough area, But dad was an only son, although he has 4 sisters and 1 half sister.
Our surname originates from the West Riding of Yorkshire and is apparently Anglo-Saxon for Valley of the badger.
There is also a village called Brogden in Kent, England.
Hope this has been of some use to you and don't hesitate to reply if I can be of any help.
Lee Brogden
