I have information on a Peterson Brogdon/en who was the son of John in Bertie Co. NC.The time period was before 1751 to 1759.John's will was dated 18 Feb 1772 in Bertie Co.I believe John's father was David and Davids father was John, if my memory serves me right. In 1751 John Brogdon, Jr. to Peterson Brogdon 170 acres of land.At the same time in Bertie was a James with wife Susanna of Edgecombe Co., David Brogdon (Bertie), Agnes Brogdon (Edgecombe), Thos. Brogdon, George Brogdon, Mary Brogdon (wife of Peterson), James and Luranner Brogdon, Wm, and Sarah (his wife) Brogdon.
In 1757 David, John, John Jr., John Sr., and Peterson Brogdon were listed as taxpayers in Bertie Co., NC.
1759 is the last I see of this Peterson Brogdon.I am really interested in him as my 4th great grandfather was Peterson Gideon Brogdon/en, b. 1800-1805 in NC.I believe that this Peterson may be a direct relative, if not his grandfather. In 1790 there were many Brogdon/ens in NC and SC.
In the List of the Names of the DEAD in Virginia since April Last, Feb. 16, 1623, is John Brogden.
List of Owners (Barbadoes) and possessors of land Hired Servants & Apprentices, Bought Seruants & Negroes in ye Parish of St. Michaells:Humphry Brogdon 10 acres of land and 14 negroes.
I hope this helps.
