John Bromley, son of John and Elizabeth Bromley, was born in Spatchet, Rhode Island, in 1800, was married to LAURA WEAVER, daughter of Thomas and Sally Weaver, of Genesee Co., NY, in 1823, and came to Bennington, Wyoming Co., NY in 1826 from Alexander, Genesee Co., NY. He had removed from Rhode Island in 1810 with his grandfather, who settled at Batavia, Genesee Co.,NY. He purchased and sold several farms after he came to Bennington,NY. Although very young he saw service in the war of 1812-14. He died May 11th, 1865. An ancestor of Mrs. Bromley came to America with the Pilgrims in 1620.
