I could not help but see this posting. I too am searching and trying to understand my Brookins/Brooking ancestry. I have a Charles T. Brookins/ing married to a Beatrice Jackson in Hancock County, GA. My Charles can be found in the 1880 Census, Hancock County, with his father Thomas and mother Lizzie (Elizabeth), later Charles would move to Baldwin County, GA. His father, Thomas, says that he is from NC in the census info - is this the Thomas mentioned, as a brother to Solomon, Zachariah, and Haywood, mentioned in the provided information?

I also have a family Bible (Deaths Page) which mentions a Thomas BROOKING who died January 28th, 1891, in the 77th year of his age - making him born abt. 1814.

Any help appreciated. Thank You.
Scott Fraser
