I've got a Robert E. Brooking (or Brookins or Brooken) born about 1820 in GA, which seems a little old to be your Mary Ann's brother, Bob.

Robert E. married Ellen E. (Unknown) and they had the following children:

James M. b. 1854
Littleton T. b. 1856
Georgiann b. 1859 (died young)
Rebecca J. b. 1861 (my ancestor)
Robert b. 1867.

By the 1860 census, the family was living in Jefferson Co, FL.

Glad to see a GenForum on the Brookins.
