I, too, am descended from Ira Hillard Brookins and am intrigued by the tale of his wife, Rachel Farr, possibly being of Native American heritage and am most interested in learning more. From where did you hear this?

My line is as follows:

Thomas A. Brookins, b. Ireland; married Jane.

Samuel Benjamin Brookins, b. abt. 1775 NC; married Cynthia.

Edwin J. Brookins, b. abt. 1795, SC/married Arvilla.

Ira Hilliard Brookins, b. March 13, 1828,GA; d. Aug. 11, 1910, AL; married Mary Ann Hamilton.

Georgia Ann Brookins, b. Aug. 12, 1854, GA; She married John H. Hodges on Aug. 24, 1871 in Henry Co., AL. Her death date is unknown.

Georgia and John's daughter, Emma Margaret Hodges (Nov. 1877, AL - April 21, 1929, Slocomb, Geneva Co., AL) married Joseph Franklin Register on Oct. 27, 1893, in Dale Co., AL.

Emma and Joseph's daughter, Emma Lou Register (Aug. 25, 1906, AL - July 7, 1985, Tampa, Hillsborough Co., FL) is my mother. She married Earl Waymon Bailey March 24, 1923, in Blakely, GA., and they had 7 children, 6 of whom are still living.

Would you have any idea where Ira Hilliard Brookins (my 2nd great grandfather)is buried? I have also been unable to find his daughter, (my great grandmother), Georgia Ann Brookins Hodges' grave.

Please feel free to email me personally if you like.

Marie Bailey Lawson
