Hello, Russell. My 3rd great-grandparents were Samuel Brookin(s) and Martha Fortson Brookin(s)with son Samuel being my 2nd great-grand uncle. I do have in my files the marriage of Samuel/Ann Rector but can't help you with her family. I do have some info on the Brookin(s)but haven't connected them to a Virginia line. You may have this info but I'll give it to you just in case: Samuel and Martha migrated from Virginia to Nashville, Tn with evidently a stop in Alabama where Samuel born (1828-30). Samuel Brookin family enumerated in 1830 Montgomery, Co. TN census. While in Nashville they had two children, Henry and Jeanetta (my 2nd great-grandmother) who married William F. Holtzman. In 1833 the Brookin(s)family supposedly traveled by flat boat to Little Rock and upon their arrival, elder Samuel died of cholera. Shortly thereafter, two children Stephen and Mary also died of "swamp fever". I just recently ordered the obit of Martha Fortson Brookin and should receive it anytime. Much of the information I have comes from a letter written to my mother about 40 years ago by her 1st cousin, 2 times removed. I do have more information if you are interested. Regards, Richard
