Hi, Zlatica,

I would like to send you the baptismal record and Katie's death document, but I'm new to communicating on this forum and don't know how to find your e-mail address link.  Can I just click your name?

My ancestor wrote down both Hungary and Austria.  Even with the old map you're showing me I can't see how they can come from Galicia and still claim Hungary, Austria.  Isn't Hungary just a very small portion of Austria, like American cities?  I'm sorry I don't know how that country is laid out.  I can only go by what it looks like in the color block maps.  One of the first maps you showed me had Hungary as a small blip toward the middle of Austria's.  I feel really dumb about this.

I do agree with you on the birds of a feather flocking together.  I know they spoke Polish almost exclusively, with both her husbands.  I did contact the INS about Peter Sadowski's Nationalization records, and they sent me 21-pages, all they had, on men that could be a match with him, none were him.

I did just find two manifests that could be Sophia, but I haven't had time to look at them yet.  They are still questionable, because she traveled with her younger sister and that sister cannot be found on the same ship.  Although we don't know the sister's name, no other Gacek is on board.  That begs the question, was she a step-sister and thus had a different surname?  There is no way to know.

I have run into numerous O'Broskys and Broskys in the same area as my ancestors lived, but I have no idea how, or if, they are related to my John Andrew.  I also noticed many in the Pennsylvania areas my John Andrew came from before moving to southern Ohio.  Again I have no clue if there is a connection.  My feeling is that John Andrew arrive in America a year or more before an unwed Sophia arrived.  I'm thinking he sent for her, because she came at a young age and was having a child within the year, maximum two years, of her arrival, and with an even younger sister in tow.  Then again she could have been going to her family, a family I know nothing about.

I don't know what these words you used mean, or if they are a name:  Malopolskie wojewodztwo.

Cam
