POLIES Brousseau: Is Polies a real name?

Can anyone help with this name? It is for a male born in 1867, parents Flavien and Élodie(Bibeau) Brousseau. Does this name have another spelling, or is it partly anglicized? I don't think it is "Paul." Any ideas would be appreciated. Kitty
