Hi Debra,
I can see you know a great deal about this family. That certainly makes it clearer about the Winslows being next door to the Vaughans.
There were very few Winslows that I could find in Ga.One Elisha Winslow from way back in 1743 or so, may have been General Elisha Winslow for the English Militia before the Rev. War. I have found an Elbridge (can't remember the county), and a William from Meriwether Co and another Elisha that was in Irwin Co., Ga. and he had to do with the founding of the county. This was 1823, 1822 and as a Lt. in the militia. He is mentioned only three times that I am aware of and have no census records for him, except one that is in the Reconstructed census of 1790 on Early Georgia families. Maybe not the same Elisha.
There is an Elijah Winslow appearing in the Indian War Militias for Fla, I believe in 1838...really suspect this may be Elisha of Coffee County.
Too bad I can make nothing more definite of a connection for my Eli Winslow.I surely hoped this was not another dead end for my Eli Winslow. My only connection with Al. is that 1850 Census record for Choctaw County, Miss.
Thanks so much for your help.
Oh yes, I found an Aaron Winslow in land purchases and I am sure you are familiar with the many that was made by Elisha.
Thanks Again,
Barbara
