I have little information about Elinor that is verified.
Apparently she was from Scotland. There are variations of her life. My family told me John Bruffey was employed by the MacDonalds in Scotland. When he and Elinor became romantically involved her family disowned her. When she came to this country she was with a family named Slaven/Slavin. I've been told that her son, Patrick or possibly Polnak, was born in Scotland. She is buried in Pocahontas County, WV, in the same cemetery as Patrick and a few others. The father of this John Bruffey was also Patrick. I've been trying to verify some of this but haven't come up with anything factual. One of my aunts aged 89 told me my grandmother had said people were dying by the 100s in Ireland and many were buried in mass graves. Therefore no way of tracing deaths. A newspaper source of information in regard to a Bruffey family reunion in 1933 indicates that Elinor was an ancestral kinsman of J. Ramsey MacDonald.
Hopefully, this will give you some general info.
