I came across a Memoriam from the funeral of Mr. Bruffy as I was doing my family history. He is not related to me, but I knew him when I was small and he was an old man with his dog. I hope this will help someone.

Mr. Bruffy's fathers name was Patrick.

In Memory of Homer H. Bruffy, Hacker Valley, W.Va. Born Calhoun County, W.Va. August 27, 1872, died Clarksburg, W.Va. January 8, 1965, age 92 years, 4 months, 11 days.
Services from Jerry's Run Methodist Church, Hacker Valley, W.Va. January 12, 1965 2:00p.m. Clergyman Officiating Rev. Arnold Bickel Final Resting Place Life Cemetery, Cleveland, W.Va. Funeral directed by Dodd & Hurt Funeral Home, Webster Springs, W.Va.

Former Road Builder, School Supt. Dies at Ripe Old Age of 92

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday (January 12, 1965) for a pioneer Webster County road builder and school superintendent. He was Homer Hanson Bruffy, 92, who lived on Jerrys Run between Hacker Valley and Cleveland. He died Friday night (January 8, 1965) in Union Protestant Hospital after a brief illness.

An early road construction contractor, he built one of the first modern highways in the county; a 30-mile segment of W.Va. 15 between Webster Springs and Valley Head, constructed shortly after the turn of the century.

He attended Marshall University, was a teacher, and served a number of years as Webster County superintendent.

Surviving are a son, Patrick of Edgerton, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Berardi of Cleveland, Ohio; two half-brothers, Hoke Bruffy of Webster Springs and Thomas Bruffy of Clifton Forge, Va., a half-sister, Mrs. Edith Robinson of Richmond, Va., and six grandchildren.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Arnold Bickel at the Jerry Run Methodist CHurch. Interment was in the Life Cemetery at Cleveland by Dodd and Hurt Funeral Home.
