I have also been following this clan for some time.
Never sure of the family tie between John and Augustine. For sure (at least hopefully)not father and son, as John married Augustine's widow (proved based on land records). Augustine's two youngest sons, Isaac and Larken, lived with John and Mary in Anderson/Campbell Co, TN, Lawrence Co, AL, and Marion Co, TN. I think John died about 1824 in Marion Co, TN (based on land records). Not sure when Mary died. Prior to marrying Mary, John had several children with Ann Forbis. They never married. Based on military records, John was born about 1754 and Augustine was born about 1740/41. Thomas Brumley was also in this group. He was born prior to 1741, not sure of the exact date.

I think they were related to the Brumley's of Northumberland Co, VA, as John's son, John Jr was in the same regiment with Samuel Brumley in War of 1812 and Samuel and his decendents interacted with William's children in Texas.
