further on Brundage family + connections with Upland/Chester PA- visited East New Market MD, birthplace of grandfather Oliver Hooper- viewed a book @ area in a country store in town which listed Oliver P Hooper as postmaster in 1837 (uncle of my relative?)In Dorchester County Library found a microfilm clipping listing marriage of Oliver Hooper and Elizabeth Shaw Thurs. Nov. 2 1882 (a descendent of Elizabeth was my cousin Bob Shaw, he passed away several yrs ago at the time of his death was head of the Chester Welfare Office). Also, found out from speaking with my aunt Elizabeth Ballard and cousin Betsy Ballard that my grandfather Jesse Powell Brundage II was assigned to run a company in Chester in the 1920's-this was NOT an offshoot of Roger's Peet but instead was probably Duplex Metals, a maufacturer of steel ("copper-clad steel wire rods", most probably 1 of several other companies supplying steel products for the Sun Shipyard)Company was located on the waterfront in Chester . . .A brief Net citation listed ". . . Duplex Metals Co. became the Ford Motor Company at the foot of Lloyd Street"(1913 Property Atlas of Delaware County)Also "Duplex Metals Co., Singer Tower New York.Works at Chester Pa."(Supplement to the Directory to the Iron & Steel Works of the U.S.)Would be interested in any more information regarding this company, about Jesse Brundage's role in the company and also about the head of the Chester branch, the son of Frank Chambers who was president of Roger's Peet Clothing Stores of N.Y.C.
