Brunger Surname Origins and Brunger Line History
Hello everyone....It has been almost 5 years since I was here last time....
Some questions:
1. Does anyone have any historical info on the Surname "Brunger" (I have heard that it comes from old German meaning "Brown Spear" or "He Who Carried the Brown Spear" --- hence a soldier ancestor of some kind)
2. Any geographical/historical information on the spread of Brungers from Germany (the Ruhrgebeit area of Germany, I believe?) to England (most commonly found in Kent area of England)?
In my particular Brunger Line, my ancestors can be traced back to the mid 1800's in Swanscombe, Kent (working as blacksmiths)...but the trail goes cold from there....But there are a number of Brungers recorded living throughout Kent a little further back like in the 1600's-1500's, I've heard....I just don't have the missing pieces to connect my 1800's Brunger Line with those older lines ...
Anyway, If you come across anything on histrorical background for the Brunger Line, I'd love to learn of it!
