My great-greatgrandparents, Andrew Brunton (born around 1807 in Markinch) and his wife, Mary Elizabeth Ruthven Johnson (born 1800 in Markinch)came to Iron Hill, Quebec, Canada around 1838 and homesteaded there. Mary's mother, Jean Duncan (born 1765 in Scotland)came with them. Mary's father, Andrew Johnson or Johnston had died in Scotland. I have been able to find the birth record for Mary in Markinch which also lists the names of her mother and father. I have been unable to identify Andrew's birth record definitely but know from Canadian census records in 1841 that they had been in Canada for 3 years and were all born in Scotland. Andrew had a brother George (born 1798 in Scotland) who lived near them in Canada and was married to Margaret Lau. Any information that anyone can give me concerning my great-great grandparents would be most welcome.
