Buchner religious heritage

I would like to confirm the religious heritage of the Buchners who came from Prussia to USA in the mid-1700s. Family tradition says this was becuase of religious
persecution (Mennonites?). Recent info indicates this may have been due to economic advantage. Any help appreciated.
