Do you have a Mary Mahala Buckalew that you think belongs to William and Ellen Holts? I am also searching this name but I have my Mahala born about 1825 in Indiana. She married 2x, once to Chauncy Cole and second to Jacob R. Shigley in LaFayette, IN. Jacob was born in Ohio.
I've been trying to connect my Mary Mahala but don't have all of the names of William and Ellen's Children. One of her census says her father was born in VA and Mother in East Tennessee. That would match with James Buckalew and Elizabeth Mahaley Holt. Elizabeth Mahaley Holt is the sister of Ellen (Nellie) Holt. Same families, different siblings. I know from census records that they had 2 daughters born between 1820-1825. Likewise William Buckalew and Ellen (Nellie) HOLT had 2 daughters born betwee 1820-1825. I just don't have names.
Are we searching for the same person?
Also, the only Joanna Buckalew I have in my database is the sister of both William and James Buckalew who married Holt sisters. All I have for her was birth 1792 in Wythe, Virginia and her parents were George R. BUCKALEW, Sr. and Catherine (Katy) SMITH.
