I found my own information!!! According to Claude Cantrell's family tree (I1370), Susanne Smith (Buckman) was first married to a John Bowles. John was born in St. Mary's County, Maryland. They had three sons, Ignatius, William, and John Bowles. John Bowles, Sr. died in 1752. Susanne Smith then married John Baptist Buckman.

I have read in some family references that Susanne immigrated with John Baptist Buckman, but according to this family tree, Susanne Smith's family had been here a long time. Her father was Peter Smith, and her mother was Dorothy Martin. Dorothy's mother was Francis Martin, and her father was James Martin Jr. James Jr. died before 1716 in St. Mary's County. James Jr.'s father was James Martin, Sr., who died before 1669 in Maryland. The mother of James Sr. was Ann Maynard.

I knew that my line of Buckmans came from St. Mary's County, Maryland, I just did not know how far back!!!!!
