Servilla Ann Shanks Buckman married Clement Evermon Buckman on 4-25-1843 at Sacred Heart Church in Union County, Kentucky. Servilla was born on 5-17-1826, and was the daughter of Thomas Shanks. Clement E. Buckman died 1-16-1879 in Visalia, CA. Servilla Ann Shanks Buckman died 2-17-1901 in Visalia, CA.

They had seven children, five of them surviving infancy. They were Susan Elizabeth, Andrew Jasper, Sarah Earsley, and John Everman Buckman. John was born as the wagon train headed to Arizona.

I obtained this information from "Pennebakers and Buckman--Pioneers" by Phyllis Pennebaker Gross. Within this book is a letter from Mary Josephine Teague, which describes the covered wagon journey to Arizona and finally California.

One interesting fact that I just found out is that although John Baptist Buckman came here from Yorkshire, England, Susanna Smith Buckman was already here. Her family goes back a couple of generations in Maryland. Her marriage to John Baptist Buckman was her second marriage. She was previously married to John Bowles, with whom she had three sons. She then married John Baptist.

Hopes this helps a little!!!!--CSOlson
