Dear Steven,
Thank you for your reply and information.
By coincidence, only yesterday I came across an ancestry report my late mother had recieved in 1976 giving the details you have listed, deducing from census records that there were in total 9 children.
My James was listed as second eldest. The children are as follows:
Alexander b 1847
James b 1850
John b 1852
George b 1854
Isabella b 6 Feb 1857
William b 1859
Daniel b 25 Oct 1861
Ann b 14 Apr 1864
Cooper b 12 Nov 1867
Only the eldest, Alexander was born in Musselburgh, Edinburgh. The remaining children were born in Glasgow.
At this stage I believe the 3 eldest to have migrated to Australia.
Their father Alexander Budge died 23 Feb 1891 in Dumbarton, Glasgow.
There is confusion as to whether his parents were James Budge and Jessie McKay or Alexander Budge and Christian McKay. The later appears more likely due to a record of a birth in Dunnet, Caithness of Alexander on 10 Dec 1824 to parents Alexander Budge and Christian McKay.
Are you related?
regards
