Brenda,
John Martin Buff was my g.g. grandfather, and his son Valentine Buff was my g. grandfather.Valentine had 7 children, one of whom is my grandfather, Arthur Clarence Buff. Arthur's daughter is my mother. My grandfather is the last living sibling of Valentine's children.
We have some old pictures and information about the family. We went back to visit the old family homesteads & graves near Mountain View in the late 1980's before my grandfather's health deteriorated. He was still able to direct us to the location of many of the landmarks he remembered from his childhood.
I know a little about this side of my family because of the stories he and my mother have told me throughout the years, but have always wanted to do more research, which I am now just beginning.Perhaps we can share what we know so far with each other.
By the way, one of the stories I had always heard is that there was some family connection to Callaway Co., Missouri so maybe Tanya Hogeland's (1st responder to your posting) relatives from Washington Co. are related to our Buffs somehow.I'd like to find out as I don't have info about John Martin's ancestors.
Since you posted this over two years ago, maybe you have discovered more information. Looking forward to hearing from you!
