Buffaloe'slaves,St Matthews, Wake Cty,NC

Seeking information on my African-American ancestors in St Matthews Township in NC. Dan, Mary, Eliza, Ligma(?) Ruffin are listed on the 1870 census. Dan Ruffin is my gggfather. My family has had a long standing relationship with the Buffaloe family as recently as the 1950"s. I have been told the Ruffins had been share croppers for the Buffaloes at the turn of the turn of the 19th century. I have searched slave schedules but was unable to determine if the Ruffin family were the slaves for any of the Buffaloes in the St. Matthews Twp. I also wonder if members of the Ruffin family had come to the St Matthews area with Henry Buffaloe in the late 1700's?Does anyone have any information on the slaves for the Buffaloe families. Are there any slave names listed in wills or Bibles? This information is very important to my family as my father was recently diagnosed with a serious illness yet he gets very excited about any information that I am able to share on our ancestors. Please help me.
